3 Rockford Kickboxing Competitors Leave Dubuque with Victory

Tubio holds trophy after winning his bout.

ROCKFORD, IL— On Friday, February 1st, three brave kick-boxers who train out of No Joke Mixed Martial Arts in Rockford ventured off to Dubuque, IA, where they were set to compete at the Midwest Kickboxing Championship. According to written accounts from spectators via a social-media surge the following morning, all three athletes faced a challenge, but ultimately pushed themselves beyond any challenges they have ever faced within the four-corners of a ring. Due to the tournament component to this event, these three athletes managed to walk away with four wins.

Competitor, and coach at No JokeChand Tubio was in a four-man Lightweight Contender Tournament. He fought in the Semi-finals Early that night and ultimately won his first match by unanimous decision.

Tubio later fought his second bout in the finals and walked away with another win, making him the ‘Number 1 Contender’. Even more impressive, Tubio was also awarded the electoral-based ‘Performance of the Night’ award.

Competitors Strezz and Ryan are also coaches at No Joke, and performed admirably during their scheduled bouts. Strezz and Ryan both fought against skilled opponents who did not make taking the win easy. Despite what Coach, Chand Tubiodescribes as a “tough back-and-forth exchange between skilled opponents”, both competitors managed to win with a split decision in their respective bouts.
